# Chapter 1: Two Types of Faith

Choose questions that fit your table. Let one good conversation breathe.

**Start here:** “You’re welcome whether or not you read the chapter. You may pass or simply listen.” Choose one question from each section as time allows. Read the short Scripture cue aloud when helpful.

## 1 Begin with hope Easy entry

1. What is one good thing you’re looking forward to?
2. When has hope helped you take a step before you knew how things would turn out?

## 2 Faith with hands Chapter 1, pp. 4–5 · James 2

1. Bobby calls living faith “belief paired with action.” What could that look like on an ordinary Tuesday?
2. In James 2, a hungry neighbor needs more than kind words. What would faith with hands do?
3. What can a faithful response look like when your strength is limited and you also need care?

## 3 God’s Word and what we see Chapter 1, pp. 6–11 · Romans 12

1. When a hard circumstance is right in front of us, what helps us remember God’s character?
2. A closed door or diagnosis tells us something real. What does it not tell us about God’s heart?
3. Jesus teaches us to pray, “Your kingdom come … on earth as it is in heaven.” What need around us makes you want to pray that?

## 4 Go a little deeper Chapter 1, pp. 13–15 · Judges 6

1. Where do you see the tension between asking God boldly and living with an unanswered prayer?
2. Gideon asks “Why?” and receives a next step. What helps you take a faithful step while a question remains?

## 5 Pray and respond Chapter 1, pp. 15–16 · Romans 10:17

1. What is one need we can bring to God together today?
2. What is one small response you could offer or receive this week?
